Project dissemination

The final event of our joint Erasmus+ project with the Finnish partner was a personal dissemination event, which was attended by the partners online and other interested parties took part in a webinar. The guests of the event were colleagues from the Finnish and Hungarian schools, the deputy general director of AASZC, managers and colleagues of Hungarian forestries and interested people from other schools. The occasion provided an opportunity to present the Erasmus+ program, the project as a whole and the partner institutions. We introduced the results we achieved and the opinion of participants about the work so far. The effect this one year had on the participants directly and indirectly, on the two schools.  We were also able to discuss questions arising from the Erasmus+ program. It was a special pleasure that the colleagues of the Finnish partner institution and the project coordinator also participated in this event virtually and they could also share their experiences, observations, and present their school. In addition to the lecture, the exhibition in the school’s lobby helped students, teachers and visitors to get to know the elements of this project better.

Finnish students and teachers came to our school for a week

The next stage of the partnership programme between the two schools was the arrival of Finnish students and teachers for the one-week program in Hungary. Between October 8 and 15, nine people took part in the partnership program presenting Hungary’s forests. The program series was attended by the teachers of our school and those students who made a professional visit to the Finnish school this spring. Regarding the professional program of the week, the participants of the program were able to get a very detailed insight into the various forest associations found in Hungary. The lowland forest associations were studied in Bugac by KEFAG Zrt., the flood forest associations in Gyula by DALERD Zrt. and in Bátaszék by Gemenc Zrt., while the mountain forest associations were studied in Visegrád by Pilis Zrt. During the week, not only forest associations, but also answers to the challenges of wood processing, water management and climate change came into focus. Everyone could learn the historical, cultural and gastronomic values of the given regions better. The professional programs started from Szeged, which also provided an opportunity for our guests to know the everyday life and interesting sights of Szeged, so in addition to the natural values and challenges found in different parts of the country, they could also get a little slice of the cultural life. In addition to all this, we also arranged time for conversations and entertainment.

Student participation in practice oriented professional programme in Finland

Within the framework of small-scale partnership programme of Finish WinNova and Hungarian Kiss Ferenc Forestry School, the second activity of the partnership was carried out between 16-23 April 2023. Five of our students and a professional teacher took part in the programme.

In our school the possibility of taking part in a one-week-long professional partnership programme was announced well before the activity. Five motivated forestry students could participate in the practice-oriented partnership programme which was organised by Forestry and Earthwork Department of WinNova. The main goal was to give the opportunity to students for real practice which are limited or not available in our school. Beside this, our students could learn more about the Finish culture, the educational system, the gastronomy, the natural treasures, the capital city and about the closer and bigger surrounding of the school in Pori. A great emphasis was placed on improving and expanding social and linguistic skills as well.

Within the framework of small-scale partnership programme of Finish WinNova and Hungarian Kiss Ferenc Forestry School, the first activity of the partnership was carried out between 20-23 March 2023. This was the first personal visit since the partnership was set up and took place in Pori, Finland. The project team of WinNova (Teemu Välimäki, Timo Hämylä, Heidi Forsberg, Jani Kujansuu) hosted the guest teachers from Hungary (Gergely Svéda, Zoltán Martincsek). During the meeting, all details of the project, professional and organisational, were discussed. The host teachers showed all the venues of the school in Kulla and in Pori, and also around the town where field practices are done with forestry machines. It was a great chance to see the Finnish way of education in real life. Beside learning more about school life, the guest teachers could explore the surrounding area to collect first-hand experience about possible free time activities in order to share it with candidate students who come to Finland in April. A well-organised and practice oriented programme awaits those students who will take part in this partnership programme.

The European Commission announced the Erasmus+ programme for 2021-2027 period just like in the previous years. The 2021-2027 programme places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life. (from: https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/about-erasmus/what-is-erasmus). Following these priorities AASzC Kiss Ferenc Erdészeti Technikum has decided to take part in small scale partnership programme with the Finish WinNova Forestry and Earthwork department. The beginning of the International Forestry Cooperation programme dates back to spring of 2022 when two members of WinNova paid a visit to Szeged in order to know each others’ schools and educational systems much better and explore the possibilities that the two schools can offer to foreign students. The results of the tender were announced in December 2022 and the Tempus Public Foundation considered the partnership to be granted €30.000 to implement their programme.

The main goal of the programme is to put our school on the map of international relations in Europe, to let our students learn more about other nations (language, culture, educational system, people etc.) and be better EU citizens with the accumulated knowledge. Not only students but teachers can benefit from the programme in many ways as well.

In 2023 there will be different partnership programmes carried out in Finland and in Hungary with the participation of students and teachers as well. The programme elements will contribute to students’ professional, linguistic and cultural knowledge, too. We do hope that this partnership programme will be the beginning of a long term partnership even with more international schools to participate.
